"The Old Guard"

On February 14, 2009, members of the Old Guard Riders traveled to Fort Verde State Historic Park in Camp Verde, Arizona to meet members of the well-known Arizona 10th Memorial Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers . Recent events surrounding Medal of Honor recipient, Cpl Isaiah Mays, has sparked a new interest in Buffalo Soldier history. The 9th and 10th Cavalry and the 24th and 25th Infantry Regiments , played a heroic and crucial role in American history. The historical plaque outside the Fort Verde Administration Building, shown in the photo series below, is a reminder of the bravery and dedication of these American soldiers. We would like to thank the officers and soldiers of the 10th Cavalry, as well as Fort Verde Park Manager Shiela Stubler, Assistant Park Manager Dennis Lockhart and the staff of the Fort Verde Historic Park for their hospitality. Old Guard Riders is proud to be associated with both Fort Verde Historical Park and Captain Dominick Bova and the Soldiers of the Arizona 10th Memorial Cavalry.
