Ryan and wife Brandi with family SSgt. Fritsche was assigned to 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Vicenza, Italy; died July 27, 2007 near Kamu, Afghanistan. SSgt Fritsche died of injuries sustained from small-arms fire when his unit was ambushed by Taliban forces during combat operations. Also killed was Maj. Thomas G. Bostick Jr., Commanding Officer. Ryan was killed on his first patrol after arriving in Afghanistan. He was awarded with the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, a NATO citation, an Afghanistan Campaign Ribbon and the Combat Infantry Badge.
It is not often that we have the opportunity to experience the trauma of combat or experience first hand the circumstances surrounding the death of an American soldier. SSgt Ryan with his wife Brandi Although SSgt Ryan Fritsche was not a member of the Old Guard Riders, Ryan had close ties to many OGR members in the Redding, CA Area Chapter, including Alex Seibert, 3rd Regiment, Fort Myers, VA and Alex's mother, Virginia Seibert.
